Code Review & Architecture Review
Laravel and Symfony code review and architecture review: SOLID, PSR, database queries, performance, security, maintainability, technical debt and scalability. Result: a prioritized report with problems, risks and recommended improvements.
Before you build on it, know what you're actually building on
Typical situations I help with:
- you're about to invest in a codebase and want an honest technical assessment first;
- you've inherited a Laravel or Symfony project and need to know where the real risks are;
- your team keeps shipping, but nobody reviews architecture, patterns or long-term decisions;
- code quality varies a lot depending on who wrote what;
- SOLID and PSR are mentioned, but not actually applied or enforced;
- database queries work in development but were never reviewed for production;
- performance and scalability were never assessed against real usage;
- security issues may be hiding in plain sight in the code;
- technical debt keeps growing, and nobody has a clear picture of how much;
- you need an independent review before hiring, scaling the team or selling the product.
If any of this sounds familiar, you don't need a full audit or a rewrite. You need a focused, honest Laravel / Symfony code review and architecture review that gives you a clear picture of what's good, what's risky and what actually needs to change.
What the review covers
Laravel / Symfony code review and architecture review
I review your codebase the way I'd review it before taking it over myself: from the outside in, looking for the things that matter to the business — architecture, code quality, database usage, performance, security and long-term maintainability. The result is a prioritized report you can act on, share with your team, investors or the next developer.
The review typically covers:
- Laravel code review — structure, patterns, conventions and typical Laravel pitfalls;
- Symfony code review — bundles, services, dependency injection and Symfony-specific issues;
- Architecture review — boundaries, layers, coupling, cohesion and long-term decisions;
- SOLID — applied in practice, not just mentioned in code comments;
- PSR — standards, consistency and readability across the codebase;
- Database queries — N+1, inefficient Eloquent/Doctrine usage, missing indexes;
- Performance — slow paths, heavy queries, sync work that should be queued;
- Security — authentication, authorization, validation, file handling, sensitive data;
- Maintainability — how easy (or hard) it will be to change this code in a year;
- Technical debt — where it lives, how much it slows delivery and how to reduce it;
- Scalability — what breaks first when traffic and data grow.
What this service is not: it's not a security audit or penetration test, it's not a full performance optimization engagement and it's not a rewrite proposal. It's an honest, focused review of the codebase and its architecture.
What you get
A prioritized report with problems, risks and recommended improvements
Every finding in the report follows the same structure, so it's clear what matters and what to do next:
- Problem — a short, concrete description of what's wrong;
- Risk — what it means for performance, security, delivery speed or maintenance;
- Priority — critical, high, medium, low or informational;
- Recommended improvement — practical steps in your stack, without breaking production.
Where relevant, I include code snippets, affected files or routes and notes on how to verify the change. If you want, we can go through the report together and turn it into a concrete action plan.
Why me
I have 4+ years of commercial experience with Laravel, Symfony and Vue.js, and I work as a Georgian IE on a remote B2B basis — clear contracts, invoices and communication. I focus on business results, not just code, and keep the process transparent with clear estimates and predictable delivery.
I've done code reviews both as a contributor and as the person taking over unfamiliar codebases. I know how to separate real issues from style preferences, and how to explain trade-offs clearly to founders, CTOs and development teams. I work on a small number of projects at a time, so you get direct communication, fast feedback and a report you can actually act on.

Frequently asked questions
01 Is this a security audit?
No. It's a code and architecture review. Security is one of the areas covered, but if you need a focused security review or a penetration test, that's a separate engagement.
02 What do I receive at the end?
A prioritized written report where every finding follows the same structure: problem, risk, priority and recommended improvement. Where relevant, I include code snippets and affected files or routes.
03 Can you also implement the recommended improvements?
Yes. You can take the report and act on it yourself, or I can implement the agreed improvements as a follow-up, with verification afterwards.
04 Do you review Laravel and Symfony projects?
Yes. I review both Laravel and Symfony codebases, including architecture, patterns, database usage, performance, security and maintainability.
05 What is your cooperation model?
Remote B2B via Georgian IE. Fixed review, review + fixes, or monthly retainer — depending on what you need.
